Cardiff LBM Workshop - 3/4 September 2009

Welcome to the Cardiff Lattice Boltzmann Method Workshop website

Those developing and using lattice Boltzmann Methods come from a wide range of disciplines and application areas. This two-day workshop aims to invite established experts in the field to give lectures and also to give researchers in Wales and the UK an opportunity to present their results. It is hoped to establish and reinforce contact between research groups working on LBM and to raise the awareness of LBM amongst academic and industrial scientists in Wales and the UK and hence encourage interdisciplinary collaboration in application areas such as engineering, nanoscience, bioscience and geoscience.

The workshop is being supported by the London Mathematical Society (LMS), the Wales Institute of Mathematical and Computational Sciences (WIMCS) and Cardiff School of Computer Science. In particular there are specific funds which will cover travel and subsistence costs for UK PhD students.

The hotels which are in the city centre or between the city centre and Cardiff Bay should be close to the workshop venue, but a check of the postcodes on googlemaps would be advisable just in case. The Mercure Holland House Hotel is the nearest, being just the other side of Newport Road, but it's not the cheapest.
