Abstract

Computation of spectrum of laplacians on fractal objects

We report on a series of computations of the spectrum of various laplacians on the Koch snowflake (both triangular and square) and on rooms and passage regions. The later region is chosen so that the resulting Neumann laplacian has essential spectrum. Numerical results show how essential spectrum is approached by eigenvalue results as the full rooms and passages region is better approximated.
