Parallel processing is an important part of the department's research
profile and also figures prominently in its undergraduate degree
programmes. The information here features various aspects of the teaching
of parallel processing in the Department of Computer Science.
Lecture Notes
The
lecture notes from two undergraduate courses are included.
Parallel Processing I
- an introductory course for 2nd year computer science
students
Both courses are based around the department's
32 processor nCUBE2 multicomputer.
Feedback on these lecture notes is
encouraged by sending comments to Steve.Hurley@cs.cf.ac.uk
Parallel Processing Courseware Modules
These are individual courseware modules covering the topic of
parallel processing which are currently being developed with the aid of
an HEFCE grant. The modules will ultimately be produced in three formats
to allow them to run on networks of PCs. MACs or X terminals and workstations.
The
Application areas to be covered and the content of the modules will be such
that they can be included in degree courses in computer science,
engineering, electronics and mathematics. Feedback on any experiences in
using the modules is encouraged by sending comments to Steve.Hurley@cs.cf.ac.uk.
