Right: A picture of Daghstuhl Castle, near Saarbrucken
in Germany. Taken in August 2000, where I attended the
"Java and HPC" workshop.

Daghstuhl is a computer science research institute
in the middle of no-where, and provides a great setting
for a research conference. There is a wonderful library,
computing facilities, and staff. Essentially, you are locked
up for one week with your colleagues in this castle to work
on your research area. Wonderful experience!

Right: A cathedral in Lucca, Italy. Lucca is a wonderful
city about an hour from Pisa. This cathedral is supposed
to contain a famous cross that was brought here
from Jerusalem -- or so Graham Riley (Manchester)
tells me!

Left: The old city of Lucca is enclosed within a wall,
which seems to be a common characteristic in Italy.
This is a picture on-top of the wall! It is quite a
wide area, and enough 2 vehicles to safely pass. Above
the walls you also get a picturesque view of the city below.

Wonderful place -- I took a tour with Graham Riley
(Manchester), Tony Scurr (Southampton) and Milan
Milosovic (Manchester). Truly enjoyed their company
