Modelling and Transferring Geometric Details over 3D Shapes
Supervisor: Dr Y. Lai
Keywords: geometric models, shape analysis, computer graphics, computer vision
The recent development of 3D acquisition techniques allows complicated geometric models with fine details to be digitally captured. In many cases, such details reveal the essential geometric textures or the particular artistic styles (e.g. sculpture, woodcut etc.) of the objects. Modelling geometric textures or styles from one object makes it possible to reproduce similar textures or styles over new models. This not only brings richness to new objects, but also allows newly created objects to be stylised as exemplars. In this project, shape analysis and computer vision techniques will be utilised to appropriately analyse and model the geometric details and further algorithms to transfer such models will be investigated.
