Protocols for opportunistic information exchange

Supervisor: Dr S.M. Allen

Keywords: Opportunistic networks, data dissemination, mobile ad hoc networks, social networks, mobile P2

'Opportunistic networking' is an emerging communications paradigm that allows mobile devices to disseminate information though a combination of short range wireless links and user mobility. Many dissemination protocols for opportunistic networks utilise knowledge of the social communities of users to target relevant information to individual devices. The aim of this project is to develop and investigate dynamic, decentralised protocols to infer and share a users interests, in order to facilitate community detection. The project will involve proposing protocols and analysing their behaviour both theoretically and through simulation.
