Robust Iris Recognition System
Supervisor: Dr X. Sun
Keywords: Pattern Recognition, Image Processing, Computer Vision
Iris recognition is one of the biometric identification techniques, which is regarded as the most reliable non-invasive method of personal identification. Although there are several successful commercial iris recognition systems, most of them require that the iris images are captured in highly constrained conditions (within a certain distance and looking for a certain period of time). If the iris images are captured in less constrained conditions, noise (including obstruction from eyelids or eyelashs, reflection, and blurring) may exist, and improvement on the current algorithms is required to increase the accuracy of iris systems. This project will research new iris algorithms and implement a robust iris recognition system.
Key Skills/Background: Strong mathematical background and excellent computing skills required.
