Objectives
The main objectives of RAVE project are to develop a collaborative visualization environment in which:
a. The rendering of the objects in a scene is viewed as a web-based service that potentially may be offered by a number of platforms. These services will be compliant with the proposed Open Grid Services Architecture (OGSA), will be described by a generic web service description language, and will be located through generic service discovery mechanisms.
b. The management of a collaborative visualization session seeks to make the most effective use of services and resources by being resource-aware. This means that decisions about where to store data, where to render scenes, and whether to down-sample or compress data sent over the network, are made dynamically based on the capabilities and loading of clients, servers, and network links.
