Graduation July 2012

Hats in the air

The School of Computer Science & Informatics congratulates all of its graduates this year. We are delighted that a total of 102 undergraduate and 48 postgraduate students have successfully completed their degrees. Computer Science & Informatics graduands and their families and friends attended a reception on Wednesday 18 July, meeting up together and with staff before going to the formal Graduation Ceremony in the city.

Among our undergraduates 60 BSc Computer Science (including Computer Science with specialisation) degrees were awarded and 27 BSc Information Systems degrees were awarded. Another 15 students achieved degrees in courses associated with other Cardiff University Schools. Further congratulations are due to those who will now take up job offers with employers including BT, Ceva Logistics, Deloitte LLP, Gear4, Tesco.com, Yelp.com.

Several students have opted to further their education; with one joining our PhD programme and studying with our Distributed & Scientific Computing research group.

Postgraduate degrees were awarded, with 14 students achieving the MSc Computing to help them start a career in the IT industry, and 10 achieving the MSc Strategic Information Systems to further their existing IT careers. A further 9 achieved our new MSc Information Security & Privacy degree.

Students involved with the School's research activities also graduated, with 15 colleagues gaining a PhD in Computer Science. These newly qualified specialists have now taken up posts, at UK or overseas universities (including Cardiff University) and companies, while others are returning to their home countries to resume their careers with much improved prospects.

Good luck to everyone!
