The School of Computer Science & Informatics has recognised some of its hardest working and outstanding students in a series of special prize giving ceremonies recently.

Students are always encouraged to perform to their highest ability and take an interest in all aspects of their chosen subjects, so the School is particularly pleased to recognise those who have excelled.

This year's annual Prize Presentation Ceremony attracted representatives from industry including Logica, IBM and the BCS - Chartered Institution for IT.

Head of School Professor Roger Whittaker commented: "As a School we are delighted to hold an annual prize giving presentation in which we recognise and reward some of our hardest working students for their outstanding achievements. We are particularly pleased to have the continuing support of leading companies in our sector as they too see the talent emerging from this School and are keen to encourage and recognise this. Well done to all of our prize winning students who do the School proud."

Dr Matt Morgan, module leader said: "The transition from school to university is a tough one so this module is designed to give all of our new students a more gentle introduction to the School and what is expected of them. It involves a lot of group work so gives students a great opportunity to meet people and make new friends, which is always one of the main worries when starting at university. All of our first years performed to an impressive standard in all tasks they were given, so holding a prize giving ceremony seems a fitting end to this intensive module."
