School Researcher on the Radio

Dr Ian Grimstead, a researcher in the School, has been recorded for several features on Good Morning Wales, the BBC Radio Wales weekday breakfast programme. Each short feature is a-behind-the-scenes look at some aspect of computing such as current advances in technology or online shopping. The features are currently arranged to be broadcast between Christmas and New Year.

Recently, Ian was quoted in the Sunday Times discussing the potential of 3-D games on the latest generation of mobile 3D "Vikuiti" displays from 3M.

Ian's research work is currently focused on the visualisation of very large numerical data sets, using technologies such as 3D displays, haptic devices and graphics processors for compute. His work spans a broad range of applications, from medical calibration of consumer grade monitors to haptic interaction for molecular docking.
