ISOLDE stands for Integrated Site Optimisation of Supply and Demand of Energy. Tata Steel Group???s business objectives are to reduce its operational costs and to become the benchmark in terms of energy efficiency and CO2 emissions. The reduction of energy consumption and energy costs is therefore very important. An advanced energy management system will contribute to this objective. The overall objective of the project is to build and implement an energy management system. This system will determine the most optimal distribution, generation and utilisation of the energy carriers, such as works arising gases, natural gas, steam and electricity. The system will be based on advanced control methods, such as Model Predictive Control. ISOLDE will be built as a generic tool, such that it can be implemented on others TSG sites as well. The project will involve gathering the required data from the different works area, developing the prediction model and creating an appropriate front end to display consumption results.
