Kaoss Pad Type IPad Application for Real-time Audio and Midi Control

The Korg KAOSS pad (http://www.korg.co.uk/products/dance_dj/kp3/dj_kp3.asp) is an audio and MIDI controller with a unique touch based control pad. To date there has been no iPad emulation of this device although a some aspects may be found in the recent Korg Ims-20 app (http://www.korg.com/ims20). This project would seek to emulate some KAOSS pad features (or similar devices - see below) to any real-time audio effect control and MIDI control on an iPAD. Other related iPad apps include: * Lemur - http://liine.net/en/products/lemur/ * Yamaha tenori emulation - http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/aurora-sound-sound-hd/id375109647?mt=8 * Simplemidipad -http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/simplemidipad/id423582819?mt=8&ign-mpt=uo%3D4 * Beatwave - http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/beatwave/id363718254?mt=8 * Soundgrid - http://www.mifki.com/soundgrid/ Within the project you could implement some of the following: * Onboard iPad real-time controllable audio effects * Output MIDI and other controller events to control outboard hardware/software * Onboard iPad beat/drum machine generation * Onboard iPad Sampler. Prerequisites: Student must have own iPad (possibly doable on an iPhone). Access to iPad developer kit will be provided. Good programming skills. Knowledge of (or willingness to lear) Objective C/iPad programming.
