An Enterprise Content Management System for Collaboration

An enterprise content management system (ECMS) deals with the increasing volume and complexity of organisational content. It supports, among other things, the processes of collaboration in which system users share all types of content as well as providing functionalities that facilitate teamwork. In this case, groups of individuals are able to work jointly on the creation of content. While the concept of enterprise content management (ECM) received much practical attention, the interest in the scientific work is still immature. This leads to the fact that many ECMS often do not enable collaborative work. In order to tackle this issue, we constructed and introduce an ECMS that supports collaboration as a first approach. The system helps as a foundation for researches and businesses to implement an ECMS that supports collaborative teamwork in future projects. It is constructed through thoroughly determining the functional requirements as well as creating the corresponding systems and data architecture. On this basis, an initial detailed design of the system includ-ing the systems behaviour and the graphical user interface (GUI) is presented.
